St David’s Day Concert – Friday 3rd March – Stiwt, Rhosllanerchrugog
We are greatly looking forward to celebrating St David’s Day with Cor Meibion Rhos. Their new conductor, James Llewelyn Jones, is a former Sirenian and a very talented musician. There is no doubt that Friday the 3rd of March will be a fantastic evening of Welsh music and two of the foremost choir’s in the area raising the roof. Both choirs will be joined by Wrexham Youth Choir. The combined vocal powers of these groups really should give the audience a great flavour the the best of Welsh music making in the area.
Tickets are available by contacting us or from the theatre. (01978 841300)
BASSES AND TENORS WANTED!
The Sirenian Singers are looking for more tenors and basses to join them. The next few years promise great things for the choir with many concerts and a European tour planned. This world-class choir prides itself on high standards at the same time as having great fun. The tremendous tuition of the renowned conductor Jean Stanley Jones MBE is the greatest asset that our choristers have. Any Sirenian would tell you that they have learned so much from Jean.
Sirenian Singers rehearse at All Saints Church Hall, Gresford, on Thursdays between 7pm and 9:30pm. If you would like to join us then please contact Sheena Williams, our wonderful secretary, by email email@example.com.
The choir works to a very high standard and with a large repertoire. Prospective choristers would need some previous experience of signing with a choir and/ or other relevant musical experience.
We would love to hear from men interested in joining us. Unfortunately, at the moment, all soprano and alto positions are filled.
Basses have the most fun!
MORE CLASSICS IN THE ARCHIVE
We are updating our Archive section with more videos of the choir’s past performances. This week, we have uploaded the four, fantastic performances that lead to Sirenian Singers being the first Welsh choir to win the illustrious title of Choir of the World in 1998.
Christmas truly begins this Saturday at All Saints Church, Gresford, when the Sirenian Singers give their annual Christmas concert. The concert begins at 7 o’ clock and proceeds will go to the church fund.
With a wide range of music from Mendelssohn to William Mathias, there is plenty of festive cheer to be savoured. The choir will be supported by Ysgol Bod Hyfryd’s Choir and the wonderful flautist Charlotte Thomas. The programme includes classical music, traditional hymns and several popular Christmas classics. Seasonal refreshments will be available and there will be ample chance for the audience to join in with the carolling as they kick off the season of good will in the stunning setting of All Saints’ Church, Gresford.
The whole choir are looking forward to this concert and wish all our supporters throughout the year a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year! Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda ac Iach i chi gyd!
